The internationally acclaimed queer history podcast Bad Gays comes to Helsinki for a one-night-only live recording on October 26th at Alakulttuuritila Alimus. Hosts Ben Miller and Huw Lemmey will turn their sharp, funny, politically incisive, and historically rigorous lens on Finland’s most famous gay icon — Tom of Finland.
Bad Gays tells the stories of “evil and complicated queers in history” from emperors to dilettantes to fascist thugs, bringing us a version of queer history that is neither sanitised nor demonised, but full of fascinating, frustrating human beings. The show has over 3 million downloads with a devoted international audience, and has been featured by The Guardian, The New York Times, and BBC Radio 4.
This Helsinki event marks the first Bad Gays live show in Finland. They have also published a book of previous subjects in Bad Gays: A Homosexual History, published by Verso books. The authors will be signing copies of their books for sale at the event.
